 Phil Amos Phil Amos
Chair (Due to retire Dec. 2018)
Regional Remediation Manager at ERS Remediation Ltd. I have been working in the contaminated land, waste and environmental consultancy sector for twenty years. My remit with ERS is the design of turnkey and groundwater remediation schemes, environmental spill clean up schemes and project management of remediation contracts. Prior to this I worked in the geoenvironmental consultancy sector with WYG, did landfill design, construction, operation and reclamation with Grontmij and AECOM, and environmental and agricultural waste consultancy with SAC. Outside work I am a keen mountaineer and mountain biker – a weekend spent stoatin’ about the highlands of Scotland in winter is a good weekend – and I have also been on a number of exploratory trips to unclimbed peaks in Bolivia, Pakistan, Nepal and Tibet.

I am the Contaminated Land Officer for South Lanarkshire Council covering both Part IIA site investigations and planning enquiries. Or as I tend to explain what I do to people who are not familiar with the contaminated land industry that if a report or an enquiry has the word contamination, it generally ends up on my desk at some point. It often surprises me that I have been working in the contaminated land for the last 14 years and spent the vast majority of this working as a regulator.
